Revitalizing Benin’s wetlands sustainable farming with VIKAP

(c) Join For Water

Exciting news from the VIKAP project in Benin!

Led by Join For Water and CREDEL, we’re revitalizing 3 wetlands in Benin’s Mono river floodplain. By restoring groundwater access through 10 new boreholes, we’re boosting local agriculture and preserving essential wetland services like flood control and fishery resources.

Farmers like Elo and Alexandre now have reliable water for irrigation, reducing the strain on surface water and enhancing crop yields year-round. Innovations like efficient irrigation systems and solar-powered pumps are making a big impact.

This project not only supports sustainable farming but also strengthens community resilience against climate change.
