On September 26, we organised our WaterCafé in Ghent, together with partners, supporters, and colleagues from Belgium, Benin, Burundi, DR Congo, Mali, Uganda, Ecuador, and Peru. It was a unique moment, with our colleagues present in Belgium for an internal seminar. Together, we are joining forces for universal access to water.
What is a WaterCafé?
The WaterCafé is more than just a café – it is a place where we bring together all interested parties, colleagues, and partners to exchange ideas and inspire one another. The evening began with an inspiring message from our director, Bart Dewaele, who reminded us of our shared mission: the right to water for everyone.
At Join For Water, collaboration is key. Bart Verstraeten, director of WSM (We Social Movement), highlighted the importance of international cooperation. His insights into social and international labour rights underline the power of unity to achieve sustainable change. Together with our partners, we explored the global structures and institutions that support us in the fight for water rights.
Uganda Wins the Join For Water Photo Challenge 2024
We closed the evening with the Join For Water Photo Challenge 2024, where team Uganda, along with partners JESE and NRDI, won the award. Partners and teams from eight countries shared images of their work, impact, and challenges. The report from Uganda showcases how they protect river buffer zones around the Mpanga River, with respect for both people and nature. A wonderful example of collaboration and commitment.
Burundi Moments – good for you, good for others!
With great enthusiasm, we launched “Burundi Moments,” a delicious, organic herbal infusion from Join For Water. This blend of ginger, mint, lemongrass, and cinnamon is perfect for a warm winter drink or a refreshing mocktail or cocktail. Tasted and approved by our colleagues and partners from Burundi!
Buy Burundi Moments for yourself, your family, or as a gift during the holidays, and support the right to water for people and nature at the same time!

A big thank you to everyone who was there and to our fantastic volunteers who made this inspiring evening possible.
In short: Alone we are a drop, together a river. Join Join For Water, follow us on social media, and become one of our ambassadors!
